The Upturned is a survival horror game in the style of a single-player 3D-platformer with game mechanics that relies on physics. It also has a hint of comedy which is sometimes mixed with horror from time to time.

This game is developed by Zeekerss released on 23rd March 2022. They also made Lethal Company, It steals, and Dead Seater. I know nothing about the other games but from what I've seen, people know those games more than The Upturned itself.

STORY

without spoiling too much of the game

You play as a traveller (which will be named by you) who has recently entered the afterlife, and the latest tenant of the Upturned Inn, a hotel for the dead which is run by Ik.

Ik mentioned that the room reserved for you is located in Floor 1434, room number 14341, now the only thing is to hop on the elevator to get to your floor. Pretty simple, I know.

But here's the problem. Ik hasn't switched out the plug in the power box in forty years, so you will have to go out of the elevator to explore the floor you're currently stuck in to find a fuse, replacing the fried one.

Don't worry, the plug only fries once. The elevator totally won't randomly stop at random floors making you having to go and grab the fuse every time the elevator stops. Probably.

GAMEPLAY

You pretty much just grab and throw anything you see, mainly boxes and small furnitures.

Other than that there *are* puzzles on certain floors that requires you to throw objects at.

how I found out about this game, etc.

I was gifted this game by a friend on Steam on 22nd December 2023, saying the character Ik, looking similar like The Snatcher from A Hat in Time.

I went along with it, then played through the game up until floor 154 and gave up.

As I suddenly got the motivation to play The Upturned again, I quickly got emotionally attached to Ik, despite not liking him at first due to his eccentric behaviour.

Currently i have reached floor 1429, currently stuck in trying to escape the threat on that floor but I keep messing up...im only 5 floors away from my luxury suite..

Fun Fact: floor 170 completely scarred me as I no longer trust those mannequins..curiousity got the best of me.
